Laminate or vinyl, which should I choose?

Laminate is harder and more scratch resistant; vinyl is fully waterproof. For kitchens and baths we usually suggest vinyl; for bedrooms and living areas, both work well.

A quality underlayment and a flat subfloor make a big difference. We prep carefully to avoid hollow sounds.

Can laminate go in bathrooms?

Only water-resistant lines rated for it, and we still recommend vinyl or tile for full bathrooms.

Do you supply the laminate?

No, you purchase the material you like, and we provide expert installation labor.

How long it takes

About 500-800 sq ft per day. A typical 1,000 sq ft area takes 2 to 3 days, plus a day for tile removal if needed.

What to buy and when

Order 10% extra for cuts and waste; 15% for rooms with many angles.

Choose a water-resistant laminate (look for 24-72 hour water ratings) for Florida homes.

Buy a 6-mil poly moisture barrier for concrete slabs unless your underlayment includes one.

Order 1-2 weeks ahead and let the boxes acclimate in the rooms for 48 hours with the A/C on.

Pick up matching transitions and stair nosing from the same line, if available.
