Ask each company to identify surfaces, preparation, paint products, number of coats, protection of furniture or landscaping, and cleanup. Include high ceilings and stairwells rather than assuming they are part of a standard room price.
For occupied homes, discuss room access and the sequence of work. Exterior schedules depend on suitable weather. A written scope helps you compare the work being offered, not just the total.
