Which Flooring Handles Humidity and Heat Best?

Choose a product and an installation plan together

The right floor depends on the room, the existing subfloor, moisture conditions and the manufacturer's instructions. A material name alone does not tell you whether a specific product fits your home. Discuss the actual product with your installer before ordering.

Dhoanny installs vinyl plank, laminate, hardwood and tile across Palm Beach County and the Treasure Coast. Flooring is installation labor only: you buy the materials, and the team can help you plan quantities and installation requirements.

Compare vinyl, laminate, hardwood and tile

Vinyl plank can provide a consistent wood-look floor across several rooms. Check the chosen product's installation instructions and subfloor requirements. Laminate also offers a wood-look finish, but do not assume every laminate has the same moisture rating.

For engineered hardwood, confirm the installation method and moisture preparation before buying. Tile requires decisions about size, layout, grout and the surface below it. Ask about transitions and door clearances with any material.

Subfloor and condo requirements come first

A new floor should not be ordered without considering the condition of the surface it will cover. Discuss existing-floor removal, leveling, moisture assessment and any underlayment required by the selected product.

If you live in a condo, obtain your association's acoustic-underlayment and work-hour requirements. Confirm them with the installer before purchasing. A product that works in a single-family home may need a different installation plan in a condo.

Prepare for an installation estimate

Share your city, room list, approximate measurements, current floor type and the product you are considering. Photos help the team understand transitions, stairs and existing surfaces. Confirm quantities and any cutting allowance with the installer before buying boxes.

Request a free estimate before committing to materials. Ask what labor includes and which materials, accessories or preparation items you need to purchase separately.
